In 2013, the Institute of Energy Research (IER) reported that  trillions worth of recoverable oil and gas remains to be untapped on federal lands.  A map identifying the location of some of these resources overlaps with fires raging through California. Moreover, senior executives of a company blamed for the fires are linked to interests connected to international money laundering, Donald Trump, and the City of London.

“The federal government owns a great deal of valuable assets above and below ground,” reports the IER, which receives its funding from oil and companies. “The above ground assets include buildings, lands, roads, railroad infrastructure, levees, dams, and hydroelectric generating facilities, to name just a few, many of which are underutilized. Below the ground, the federal government owns the rights to mineral and energy leases, from which they receive royalties, rents, and bonus payments.”
