Why American Cities Can No Longer Fight Fires

During the recent historically devastating fires of Los Angeles, fires could not be extinguished, in part, as fire trucks were simply out of commission. A key responsible party for this sad state of affairs are the descendants of the corporate raiders of the 1980s.
If the 80’s version leveraged junk bonds to finance corporate takeovers, the group behind the fire truck debacle adopted a strategy of cutting costs to the bone to maximize profits for shareholders. What could go wrong?
